Gabriola Players Theatre Society - Script Reading

PLAY READING – NEW READERS ALWAYS WELCOME

The purpose of play readings is to identify suitable new scripts that may be selected for future productions by Gabriola Players. Although there is a constant flow of scripts being read and personally evaluated by GP members, in order to review plays on a more comprehensive level – in a group environment rather than in isolation – regular play readings are hosted jointly and alternately by GP Artistic Directors, Jean Llewellyn and Catherine Andersen.

Our play reading season runs from September through to May, on the first Monday in every month.  Please check the listing below to confirm whether it’s a daytime or evening reading (yet to be decided), as times may occasionally change. Titles of plays for each reading will be posted as soon as they are known.

Reading plays in a group setting is great fun and requires no previous experience. Characters and roles are switched during the session, with everyone having the opportunity to read.

It’s a great way to familiarize yourself with plays and playwrights, and lively discussion usually follows each reading.
